Do you need cash when travelling abroad?

As of 11 April 2016, you as a Nordea personal customer will be able to order foreign currency easily in FOREX Bank's Nettivaluutta service. You can access the service via the travel currency pages in Nordea's Netbank for personal customers. The service will direct you to the foreign currency ordering page.

For further information on the foreign currency exchange alternatives and delivery times, for example, please visit the Nettivaluutta service. According to your choice, the foreign currency will be delivered to the Airpro Travel Service 24h service point at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport or to your nearest post office. SmartPOSTs do not fall within the scope of the service.

Under the new service, foreign currency will be delivered to more pick-up points than before across Finland. Foreign currency in cash will no longer be available at Nordea branches as of 12 April 2016.

Please note that you should not have all your travelling funds in cash. Credit and debit cards are good alternatives.

Import and export restrictions

Import and export restrictions concern the local bank notes of the country in question and persons who do not reside permanently in the country such as tourists.If you are exporting a large sum of cash, you must declare the cash at the customs when you arrive at your country of destination.

There are no restrictions on the import and export of bank notes within the EU. A person arriving in or leaving a Member State of the European Union must declare with the customs authorities if he/she is carrying cash foreign currency in the countervalue of at least 10,000 euros.
