General Data Protection Regulation – a new EU regulation
The introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) puts an increased focus on you as an individual having the right to be in charge of your own personal data.
The regulation will apply from 25 May 2018 and aims, among other things, to
- strengthen citizens’ fundamental rights in the digital age by giving them the right to control the use of their personal data
- facilitate business by simplifying the rules for companies in the digital single market
- make organisations accountable for how personal data are managed.
